Well, i'm chuffed with myself today. Sorted a problem that i fear a lot of you are suffering. Here we go.
If your Vmaxx kit is knocking at the rear then check this first. The top of the rear damper is just like a top mount on a coil-over setup. If it is loose at all it will kindly provide you with a free clunking, knocking noise when riding over bumps. I noticed mine only did it when the wheels became un-weighted as it were, it tended not to make noise when going over smoother undulations.
So, i spoke to Christian at RAD (very helpful) and then spoke to TPC (Vmaxx distributer) who were helpful and suggested tightening up the shock mounts when the wheels were on the ground (under load).
Whilst under there i noticed a small slotted area on the top of the piston (see pic).
This must be done up tight to remedy the problem. I just managed to do it with a 13mm (or 14mm cant remember) spanner whilst in situ.
It only needed half to three quarters of a turn and voila........ Knocking is gone.
I can't say that everyone's knocking noise will be this but it certainly cured my problem.
Hope this helps someone out there.
