Been a while but now have a mk5 caddy maxi cargo commerce pro.

Got swepted up with a t6.1 transporter. Heart over head purchase. Loved it especially the factory led headlights.
Think I am having a mini midlife crisis Image. Gone through more vans than cars.

So this brings me on to my first project.
Retrofitting factory leds on the caddy.

I knew this was going to be tough going especially when I got access to vw erwin portals factory current flow diagrams for 1hrs access.
Parts link24 as also been useful too.
Just 4 wires.
12v Grnd and then can H can L.
Seeing the canbus, I thought f### Image. Lots of coding and adaptions no doubt.

Anyway, plugging through this.
Have constructed the wiring harness for the headlights.
In the process of constructing the 2 harnesses for front and rear level sensors.

A few pics to post up. Will update as and when I make more progress.ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

Made more progress.
Headlights wiring harness is now complete and connected
Front and rear level sensors wiring complete and connected
New headlights switch (ex59) with the 'all weather' button fitted.
D6 D7 is now on the gateway

So, the coding was always going to be difficult for someone like me who does not really understand computers, eeprom files etc Image Image.
The architect on the caddy mqb evo platform means everything is controlled via j519 bcm. Led headlights are on the convenience can and possibly one of the linbus networks.
It only has light control modules per headlight, front, and rear level sensors that are monitored and controlled directly to bcm for the auto headlight range.
When you look at it, it is very straightforward, especially the wiring schematics being an electrician.

I will say, I went to kufatec for their coding dongle, and thus worked to a degree, but some functions are incorrect.
Kufatec deny that it is 'their' fault, typical.
But they do accept that the modukes are on the gateway, so definitely not a wiring fault but coding from their side.
Hopefully, I will get a resolve but not hold out for much hope as I did not use their wiring harness, which, to be perfectly honest, looks like a child had thrown together for some pocket money.

Anyway, some pics this far.

See how we get onImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

Some more pics continued.

Kufatecs wiring harness included.
Glad I never followed their guide regarding the 12v power. They can not be arsed to at least show a pic of the correct fusebox this to go to.ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

Some more diy/ tiding up the brakes this weekend.
New front pads fitted ebc ultimax pads. Rate these pads highly.

Ran into issues on the rear calipers. With sfd unlocked, I was unable to open these calipers to swap out. One click app via obdeleven was not working. Joys of these newer modules Image.

The rear pads were OK, so will look for a resolve. Painted the calipers with foliatec midnight black paint, and zinc galv for the discs. Gave the rest of the parts a nice clean. Wasn't that bad tbh to show a before pics.ImageImage

Thanks.

Another small mod that didn't need coding or programming Image.
Straightforward swap. As given the interior a nice subtle lift.ImageImageImageImageImage

No worries Andy.
Hoping to get the led headlights buttoned up soon. Alot of 'what ifs' at the moment that i am getting my head around. Should be a straightforward retrofit given how simplistic the wiring is, but being such a newish model, security protocols are throwing a few curve balls.

Also in the process with the genuine digital cluster retrofit. Again just ironing out what's what before I report on here.

After several weeks, I have finally got the factory led retrofit now finished.
Everything is correctly wired and installed to factory spec.
Fully functional headlight switch coded with the automatic headlight range control via vehicle level sensors.
All weather lights also coded and fully operational.

The coding, as I said in my previous post, would be my achilles heel, but a chap from poland was able to transfer datasets from a factory caddy 5 with leds via vctools to my control module through remote coding.
Seamless transition and a true professional guy. He also does various other coding works.ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage
