Thanks Viraleye :D
Hi Philnanks, App Connect was always on the unit, but not fully loaded. When I pressed the menu and saw it, and pressed it, it just said contact your dealer.

If when you spec the car new, you tick the box for App Connect, I think it's an option they charge about £160.00p for it, but as it wasn't specified from new by the first owner, I took it to my local VW Van centre, and the Techs there just plugged into it and downloaded it onto the unit. I think they just need your VIN number, and hook up to Germany, then £200.00p plus the dreaded later, I've got my Car Play up and running :D took about an hour in the workshop, with very nice coffee while I waited.

I know some people don't like it ? but I personally think that OEM VW Discover Media SAT NAV is rubbish, hopeless with postcodes, not very intuitive, and offers 3 different routes, that are also confusing. :?

I find that using Google maps is much more user friendly, plus I can speak an address into it using SIRI, and away she goes, without the need to pull over and type in addresses, or risk an accident by trying to do it on the go.

@Ripley55
Thanks for the info. Mines in for new front discs and pads & dash cam being fitted today so will check Iater. I think I may have that “contact your dealer” message come up before so will def look into that. I agree....the oem sat nav is rubbish!

Nice mod @ Stergis

Not much done to mine today except nip up to TPS and pick up a cover for my pollen filter. Old one has been missing since I had the van and I didn’t know!!
The missing cover was the cause of the draught in the passenger footwell, and also, as it turns out, the source of a lot of the noise I’ve been experiencing!!
Since fitting, the van is much quieter on the motorway. It was the chink in my armour so to speak in terms of my soundproofing of the cabin.
I’ve since ordered the cover that sits below that. Should arrive soon.
