Question lads ...nobody can seem to help me outt I got second hand oem 18inch alloys with decent tyres one was originally buckeld but has been fixed ! And put on the rear of the van when I got the wheels they had old Tyres but drove ok with no shake but now since fitting the new tyres (pilot sports 4)the van seems to have a tiny tiny vibration at 90-100km .... It's not crazy but I drive the van everyday I know ....so I got the wheels rebalanced again went for a drive same thing ....so I have it week and went back and got the wheels rebalanced again and the van was aligned..still same thing what do you think.in should do
Been aligned and wheels ballanced three times don't really no what to do now might end up going back to 17s before I sell them and also there catching the inner wheel plastics and the back when you go over bumps but that's not really a big deal
If you've rotated the wheels and they are balanced and true, the next possibility is something on the vehicle.
Warped or out of balance brake discs can cause wheel wobble, I know of at least one forum member who's van shook violently about 60mph and it was down to the new cheap brake discs.
Another place to look is your front bumper, if the bumper is flapping you can sometimes feel that through the steering.
What tyre pressures are you running? Is your van loaded up or mostly empty?

Anti wobble plastic spacers? That's new one on me.
As for the op do you still have your 17's? You've nothing to loose by putting them back on and seeing if the vibration dissapears or not.

I'm gonna hazard a guess and say the plastic spacers are just wheel centering spigot adaptors.
These wheels, being original equipment VW wheels off a similar vehicle, won't need them.

Doc the discs on the back has small groove but nothing is warped as far as I know mate il check front bumper but sure it's ok .. as for the tyres pressure I'm not sure as guys at garage done it what would I recommend as van is mostly empty ...

I had these on a set of aftermarket 18s ...but these are vw stamped so don't think there is a need ?
If its the van and its not the brake discs as doc mentioned you might need to start checking wishbone rubbers, shock mountings etc then wheel bearings, even bent drive shafts although I suspect you would know about most of those things before 100kmh.

I remember when I worked in fast fit at Charlie browns 20 odd years ago we had an xr2 come back in about 4 times rebalanced new discs etc and we couldn't suss out the problem until 1 day I noticed the balance on 1 of the driveshafts had come loose and just moved a bit. Only time I've ever seen that hope you get to the bottom of it
Ok well I put the 17s back on drove an hour home on same roads you wouldt believe the difference in comfort between 225/45/17 and 225/40/18 anyway the feeling is still there but no where near as noticable with 17s with the 18s you feel everything I can feel the crevis's the dips any little thing at all ...is this normal for you guys that run 18s ??? ...the little vibration is there but I can't really feel it I think switching to the 18s I'm just feeling a hell of a lot more
Yes you feel every hole in the road but that's part of the fun of lowering and bigger wheels, dodging holes becomes a competition sometimes lol.
I don't feel any vibrations from the van though so I suggest you might still have some sort of issue going on, maybe a worn rubber somewhere or something, your 40 tyres will be amplifying it more than your 45's for sure.
