I’m with Petrev, can’t see why that would be an issue. The water seems to drain just as well on the side with the rail - but it always fills with bubbles when washing the van

Ok, bubbles. That's really a very serious issue, will absolutely have to think twice about that upgrade..! ;)

Biggest problem seems to find any rails to buy.

I doubt you can get them from Reimo anymore 🫤

The 3 versions I linked to are very likely identical or very nearly the same as Reimo

Keder seem to be USA and UK - If you can find a distributor locally it would be good though length is about 2.3m not the 3m of Reimo.

Trivantage also about 2.3m

Bainbridge version is 3m long.

Local supply would no doubt be best - I haven't found a reasonable 3m delivery option from the UK 😕

Hi Jon.
Well done on the conversion, I hope it is still working out for you.
A question for you... Is there any way of fitting a couple of bikes in the van with a bed extended for 2? I'm currently driving a leased townstar but considering a caddy again, definitely a maxi this time, and doing a bike camper conversion. When I had my SWB caddy I had space for 2 bikes down 1 side while I slept on the other. This would be my default layout, but I am wondering whether I could an an option to fit a pair of bikes across the van (it would have to be both wheels removed) at the end of a bed.

Saw this thread come up in the active posts and love Jon's build so read to the end. Then saw your question. I hope you don't mind me giving my opinion.
I have done a similar build for bikes and camping and this is what I managed to do with the space.

So to answer your question.
It's very possible to carry two bikes in the van and a pull out bed for 2, but you can only sleep one person comfortably with a single bike inside the van at the same time. Though that's if you want a side kitchen layout.

If you just want a bed and bikes. You could fit a 1100mm wide bed and have about 250mm from the bed to the wheel arch to top and tail bikes so that you could sleep with them in the van.

That's really helpful, thanks. I am thinking of a minimalist van, just a bed and bikes with a slider under the bed pulling out to the rear. This will allow easy access to storage and a work surface for cooking if necessary.
